Addax Petroleum Foundation Supports OVC Training

July 02, 2010

Gede Foundation works with the Addax Petroleum Foundation to support the education of 100 orphans and vulnerable children enrolled in regular schools and 51 orphans in different skills acquisition training programs in communities around the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, namely: Mpape, Gishiri, Kabusa, Sheretti, Jikwoyi, and Mararaba. Additional nutritional support is provided for 50 households to ensure that the orphan beneficiaries will stay in school and in training centers throughout the year.

Orphans and vulnerable children are enrolled in 13 different schools and 11 skills training centers within communities in the Federal Capital Territory.

The project year covers March 2010 to April 2011. It is expected that education and training will empower these orphans to gain basic knowledge in school, learn income-generating skills, reduce their vulnerability to HIV infection, and help them to avoid bad habits that can lead to crime.
